Scott

Scott has played sports from the age of 8 starting with football, hockey, lacrosse, and crew. At the (late) age of 18, he began his dance career performing and studying Modern Dance in Washington DC with Jan Van Dyke and Carla Perlo. He attended the American Dance Festival at Duke University for 2 years, then moved to New York City where he was on scholarship at the Martha Graham School and the Alvin Ailey School. He studied at the Merce Cunningham Studio, Finis Jhung Ballet Studio, and danced with the June Lewis Dance Company as well as other New York-area artists. In Washington State, he has danced with Melanie Kirk-Stauffer Dance Theatre Northwest in Tacoma and with the Aria Dance Company in Federal Way. He is a martial arts enthusiast and has studied kung-fu and kickboxing.

Scott is also a Licensed Massage Practitioner who was the chair of the Washington State Board of Massage and was on the board of directors for the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. He has been in the massage business for 25 years and previously held a contract with Boeing for 10 years providing onsite massage. He has taught kinesiology, business, ethics, and massage theory and practice. He has been a student of Pilates for the past 22 years. Scott started his training with A Physical Mind Mat training and completed his Pilates certification with Dorothee VandeWalle co-owner of Metropolitan Pilates, a world-class teacher/trainer who would help refine and strengthen his skills as an instructor as well as challenge his abilities as a practitioner. He has taught at many places around the northwest and was the director and lead instructor at Highline Athletic Club Pilates Studio in Burien Washington. You can now find him at Kinesia Pilates Studio in Pioneer Square, YMCA in downtown Seattle and Pilates on 10th on North Capitol Hill.

When he isn’t teaching Pilates you’ll find him kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, rollerblading, skiing, or playing pickleball or tennis! He also enjoys bird watching.
